Been awhile since I posted, what with work & things. I'm still pinching myself over the election results. It's as if America's suddenly stepped into out daylight after six long years of darkness. The American people have spoken, even according to the pResident himself.
And the Democrats need to listen to what was said, else we take the risk of seeing signs of dimming again.
Already we're hearing calls, mostly from Republicans, for working together to find a "way forward."
Where was that attitude when *they* had the majority?
They had absolutely no interest in working with anyone as long as they had the upper hand. Now, all of a sudden it's vitally important that everyone be civil and work together?
Wrong. No. On Tuesday, the American people voted to take back our country. We did NOT vote for civility to those who have been working against America's best interests for the past six years; those who now come crying hat in hand, begging the Democrats to "work together."
If we'd wanted that, we wouldn't have voted against the Republicans in such numbers on Tuesday.
Note I say "against the Republicans." Not "for the Democrats." The new Democratic leadership must take heed of that fact and act accordingly.
On Tuesday, the American people put our collective foot down. The message to Congress is clear. It is our country. You work for us. You will do things our way.
And this article at CounterPunch is a good place to start (scroll down to "Election Post-Mortem.)
Because at the end of the day, all those cries for "civility" really translate into "Don't Hold Me Accountable."
